Yes, there are seasons, but the difference is minimal, mostly measured in differences in rainfall rather than in temperature variation. Unlike many other world vacation spots, Costa Rica isn’t a one season destination; almost any time of the year is a perfect time to visit.
For those who live here full time, the smaller seasonal changes add spice to retirement. September and October are probably the least popular months, though, for these are the rainiest ones. Some Pacific coast areas are dry January through April, are very much like California summers, when rain rarely falls.
The dry season provides plenty of sunshine, while the wet season brings the trees into bloom with explosions of colors and fragrances and the hills become carpeted in brilliant green.
